Staking Technician

Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for an open Engineer Staking Technician position. Under the direction of the Staking Supervisor, this position is responsible for activities including line design, upgrades and re-routing existing service. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The primary responsibility of the Engineer Staking Technician is to design new power and service line extensions, upgrades, and re-routes of existing lines and equipment according to Cooperative’s standards including but not limited to the National Electric Safety Code, National Electric Code, and RUS specifications. In addition, they will provide members with solutions to their electric line needs. The position requires proven excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills while working within prescribed specifications, policy and procedure. The best candidate can work independently and with others both inside and outside the office. 

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY:

High school diploma or GED certificate plus a two-year technical degree/certification from an accredited college; or two to four years of related utility experience in engineering, GIS, or staking; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A four-year Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university in an engineering, math, computer science, or technical field is preferred. Other preferred experience includes:

·         Mechanical, electrical, design or surveying background

·         Electric line construction and design experience

·         Experience in the areas of computer applications including Spidacalc, GIS or CAD

·         Experience using specialized equipment including Trimble units and GPS locating devices.

·         A proven record of excellent face-to-face client communication and conflict resolution.

·         Must have a valid state driver’s license

Possess or ability to obtain Ohio Notary license (Must obtain within 60 days of employment).
